The FDA has a hearing scheduled for December 8, 2011 concerning Yaz, Yasmin, and the primary ingredient, Drospirenone and its risks. On September 27, 2011, the FDA issued a statement that it remains concerned, but it has not yet reached a conclusion, about the potential increased risks of blood clots from Drospirenone-containing medications such as Beyaz, Yaz, Yasmin, Ocella, and others. The Meeting will be open to the public and is on December 8, 2011 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at: Marriott Inn and Conference Center University of Maryland University College (UMUC) 3501 University Blvd., East Adelphi, Maryland
Information regarding the studies and safety of these medications will be discussed.
The committees will review and discuss the risks and benefits of drospirenone-containing oral contraceptives in view of the new and developing safety concerns that the risk of venous thromboembolism (blood clots such as pulmonary embolisms that can break lose and move through the circulatory system) may be higher in these types of products compared to other oral contraceptives. The FDA will make background material available to the public prior to the meeting.  If you or a loved one have suffered any injury after taking Yaz or a related drug, please contact DrugRxRecall and The Mulligan Law Firm today to request a free information packet and questionnaire. We can be reached at 888-446-8087 or by filling out any of the forms on this website.Â
